Children who are Looked After (CLA)

The term Children who are Looked After (CLA) refers to children who has been in the care of the local authority for more than 24 hours. In general, CLA refers to:

  • A child living with foster parents
  • A child living in residential children’s home
  • A child living in residential setting like schools or secure units.

As a school, we understand that a CLA may have different experiences to their peers. Alongside academic support, SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) support is put in place when necessary to ensure that children have the opportunity to talk about their thoughts and feelings.

Alongside school, the Salford Virtual Team support CLA. For more information about their services, please visit their website: Salford Virtual Schools Team
