Here at Irlam Endowed, we are committed to giving all our children every opportunity to acheive the highest standards. We believe that every child, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, SEND or background, deserves access to a high-qaulity education that supports their unique potential. 

Our goal is to ensure that all children feel valued, respected and included in our school community. We actively promote kindness, empathy and respect, teaching our children the importance of embracing and celebrating each other's differences. 

By fostering a culture of inclusion, we aim to create an environement where diversity is seen as a strength and where every child can thrive. We are dedicated to preparing our children to be open-minded, confident and responsbile citizens who contirbute positively to the world around them.

Our aims and objectives

 

As a school community, we are dedicated to ensuring that our curriculum is inclusive and accessible to all children, regardless of their characteristics or circumstances. We recognise the importance of catering to a diverse range of needs and experiences and our approach to inclusion focuses on the following key groups: 

 

  • Age: We provide age-appropriate learning opportunities that challenge and engage children at every stage of their development. Our curriculum is designed to cater to the varying needs of younger and older children, ensure that each child can progress at their own pace.

 

  • Gender and gender identity: We promote gender equality throughout our curriculum, ensuring that learning materials and activities are free from stereotypes and biases. We encourage all children to expelore a range of subjects and interests, regardless of traditional gender roles. 

 

  • Ethnicity and Cultural background: Our curriculum reflects the diverse cultural world around us, incorporating perspectives and content that celebrate different traditions, languages and histories. We aim to foster an understanding and appreciation of culutral diversity, helping children to develop a global perspective. 

 

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilites (SEND): We are committed to providing a inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of students with SEND. Our teaching methods are adaptable and we offer additonal support where needed, ensuring that every child can access the full curriculum and achieve their potential. 

 

  • Socio-Economic background: We recognise that students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and that these influence their educational experiences. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive of all children with additional support and resources provided to those who may face barriers to learning due to financial or social circumstances. 

How do we make our curriculum inclusive?

  • Culturally Revelant Content: Our curriculum includes content that is relevant and reflective of the diverse cultures within our school community. We integrate multiculutral perspectives across subjects to enrich children's understanding and promote respect for all backgrounds. 

 

  • Supportive Learning Environment: We create a supportive and nurturing learning environment where all children feel safe, respected and confident to express themselves. This includes providing access to the resources, technology and learning aids that support diverse learning needs. 

 

  • Collaborative Learning: We encourage collaborative learning opportunities that allow children to work together, share ideas and learning from one another's experiences. This promotes inclusivity by valuing each child's contribution and fostering a sense of belonging.
