Pupil Governors
At Irlam Endowed, our children have an important role to play in issues that affect the children themselves. We value the opinions and suggestions made by pupils and encourage them to be responsible members of our school community. It is the job of the Pupil Governors to make changes that the pupils want to see happen.
At the start of each year, children who would like to put themselves forward to become a pupil governor, write a manifesto and campaign to members of their class. A general election is held and a candidate for each team is chosen. All voting is completed in secret. The votes are counted officially and the winner is announced in celebration assembly.
There are four teams that children can be part of:
These teams will meet regularly to share ideas that they have been discussing in class and to decide on an action plan for the year. Pupils will report progress on the action plan to the rest of the school in class or via whole school assemblies. Each term a report will be sent to the school governors.
The teams will meet each half term in the Senate lead by the Headteacher. Here they will liaise with the other teams and share the progress that they are making on their team projects. They will also be able to bid for any funding required to complete their project.
