School Uniform

At Irlam Endowed, we have clear expecations around uniform and believe that all children should wear a school uniform when attending school or participating in school-organised events outside of normal school hours.

We ensure that there is a stock of pre-loved uniforms available for parents/carers to acquire; this is located by the school office. We welcome donations of good quality second-hand uniforms. If you would like to look through these items, please visit the school office.

We respectfully ask all parents and carers to support our school uniform expectations and ensure that each child is sent to school dressed appropriately ready to learn.

Our Uniform

Our pupils are expected to wear the following items:

  • Logoed or plain burgundy jumper or cardigan
  • Logoed or plan white polo shirt
  • Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
  • Black shoes
  • A suitable coat that is waterproof and warm

In summer, pupils can wear:

  • A red/burgundy gingham dress
  • Grey shorts

All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with the child's name so they can be easily returned if lost.

PE Kit

On their PE day, children wear their PE kit to school and remain in this for the entire day.

Children are expected to wear:

  • black shorts
  • black jogging bottoms or leggings
  • a plain white t-shirt
  • trainers or pumps

PE is an important part of the curriculum and where possible children will take part in outdoor PE sessions in all weathers. Please ensure your child wears appropriate clothing to take part in outdoor sessions. A bag of spare clothes should be in school for children to change into if they get muddy or wet during the school day.

Jewellery, hair or make up

For many reasons, including safety, we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exceptions to this rule are that children can wear earring studs in pierced ears and can wear small items of jewellery for the purpose of religious observance.

Children can wear a watch to school; however, this cannot be a smart watch which connects to the internet or has picture taking facilities. Any smart watches will be confiscated and parents/carers will need to collect these from the school office at the end of the school day.

During PE and swimming sessions, watches and earring studs must be removed. Children are responsible for removing and storing these items safely. We recommend that these items are not worn or brought to school on PE days.

Long hair should be tied back with a plain bobble. Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school.
